Many Christians believe in the doctrine of Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS)— otherwise known as eternal security. However, this doctrine is nowhere to be found Scripture.
Here is what the Scriptures actually say:
Hebrews 4:1
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
Hebrews 10:35-36
Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
Luke 21:36
“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Spoken by Jesus)
James 1:12
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
2 Timothy 2:12
If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
Matthew 10:22-23
“And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” (Also spoken by Jesus.)
So, to recap, the Bible doesn’t teach OSAS. It teaches, ETTE — Endure To The End.
